Vedic birth chart
Your Kundli is the map Ritvi reads.
A Kundli is a Vedic birth chart: a structured map of the sky at the time and place you were born. Ritvi computes the chart first, then uses it as the foundation for daily guidance and AI conversation.
01The definition
What is a Kundli?
A Kundli, also called a Janam Kundli or Vedic birth chart, records where the grahas were placed across the zodiac and houses at birth. In Ritvi, the chart is based on the Lahiri sidereal ayanamsa and whole-sign houses, with the same computed placements available in North Indian or South Indian visual styles.
01
Nine grahas
The core chart surfaces the Sun, Moon, Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus, Saturn, Rahu and Ketu with their sign, house, degree and retrograde state where applicable.
02
Twelve houses
Whole-sign houses organise the chart into life areas. A placement is read through both the planet and the house it occupies.
03
Lahiri sidereal zodiac
Ritvi uses the Lahiri ayanamsa, a standard sidereal reference in Indian Jyotisha, rather than treating the chart as a generic Western sun-sign profile.
04
Two chart styles
North Indian and South Indian layouts can present the same underlying placements differently. The visual style changes; the computed astronomy does not.
02How it works
How a Kundli becomes useful
A chart becomes useful when the placements are connected to houses, timing and the question you are actually trying to understand.
1. Birth details anchor the sky
Date, time and place determine the astronomical moment used for the chart.
2. Planetary positions are computed
The ephemeris produces the sidereal positions that Ritvi stores as structured chart data.
3. Houses add life context
Whole-sign houses organise placements into areas such as identity, relationships, work and resources.
4. Timing adds the current chapter
Vimshottari Mahadasha and Antardasha help place a static birth chart into a longer timing sequence.
03Common questions
What people usually ask about Kundli.
Short, direct answers to the questions that matter before you go deeper.
What information do I need to create a Kundli?
A birth date, birth time and birth place give the strongest chart input. If the birth time is uncertain, house-sensitive interpretation should be treated more cautiously.
Is a Kundli the same as a sun sign?
No. A sun sign is one placement. A Kundli is a full birth-chart structure containing multiple grahas, signs and houses.
Does North Indian versus South Indian style change the result?
No. They are different chart layouts for displaying the same underlying computed placements.
Can Ritvi explain my Kundli in normal language?
Yes. The product is designed to turn the structured chart into conversational explanations rather than leaving the user with only symbols and tables.
